Georgia Voll starred with both ball and bat as Sydney Thunder signed off from WBBL 2025with a win over Melbourne Stars
in a rain-hit clash at the Junction Oval on Saturday (December 6). The Stars, asked to bat first, managed to reach only
66 for 6 in 10 overs before Thunder chased down a DLS-readjusted target of 76 with nine wickets and 17 balls to spare.
The Stars, who were asked to bat first, got off to a steady start with Rhys McKenna and Meg Lanning managing just 25
from the four-over PowerPlay. Rain hit the venue two balls into the fifth over with the scoreboard reading 29 for 0 and
the lengthy delay effectively reduced the game to a 10-over affair. Having just 34 balls left in the innings hamstrung
the Stars, whose attempts to break free meant they lost wickets in clusters. Voll, Lucy Finn and Em Arlott evenly split
the six wickets to fall between them.
Thunder had been hit hard in a rain-affected game previously when they had been just three runs away from a win. Today
the elements were not going to stop them as Voll and Phoebe Litchfield added 50 in just 4.3 overs. From there it was a
straightforward path to the finish line. Litchfield fell for a 23-ball 37 but Voll saw the team over the line with an
18-ball 33* as Thunder finished their season with a fourth win.
