Sourav Ganguly has initiated legal action, filing a ₹50 crore defamation suit against the president of an Argentina fan
club. The complaint, lodged at Lalbazar police station, alleges that statements made by the fan club president,
identified as Mr. Saha, have irreparably damaged Ganguly's reputation.
The lawsuit stems from claims made by Saha regarding Ganguly's purported involvement in facilitating Lionel Messi's
visit to India. Saha alleged that Ganguly acted as an intermediary between the organizers and the Argentine football
star. In response to these allegations, Ganguly's legal team issued a notice to Saha, demanding a retraction of the
statements and seeking damages.
Ganguly's complaint, as reported by India Today, asserts that the allegations are baseless and have been made publicly
without any factual support. The former cricketer was present at the stadium during Messi's visit. However, he was
seated in a separate area, and reportedly left the venue due to chaotic scenes.
During his visit, Messi expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received in India. "I just want to thank everyone
for the love and affection during these days in India," Messi stated in a speech in New Delhi. He described the
experience as "truly beautiful" and expressed his hope to return to India in the future, possibly for a match.
