Samsung enthusiasts may have to wait a bit longer for the tech giant's next flagship device. Instead of a mid-January
debut, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is now predicted to arrive in February 2026, according to emerging reports.
The South Korean news agency Yonhap suggests Samsung is considering holding its next Galaxy Unpacked event in San
Francisco during February. This later launch window indicates some internal adjustments to product blueprints, pricing
strategies, and how each model will be positioned in the market.
Initial expectations pointed towards a trio of devices: the Galaxy S26 Ultra, a streamlined Galaxy S26 Edge, and a
Galaxy S26 Pro, intended to surpass the standard model. However, sources now hint that sluggish sales of the Galaxy S25
Edge led Samsung to curtail its production and reevaluate the Edge variant’s future.
Concurrently, the proposed Galaxy S26 Pro, which was slated to supersede the standard Galaxy S25, reportedly met
resistance due to pricing considerations. While it promised enhanced cameras and improved performance, these upgrades
would have inflated the entry-level price. Samsung apparently wanted to avoid repeating errors, especially with Apple's
success in maintaining stable iPhone prices despite iterative upgrades, as Forbes pointed out.
Consequently, Samsung is believed to be reverting to a more conventional lineup, featuring the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+,
and the Galaxy S26 Ultra, effectively shelving the Edge and Pro versions for now.
Whispers within the industry over recent months have indicated several alterations to Samsung’s launch timetable. A
mid-January Galaxy Unpacked event was initially anticipated, before speculation arose regarding a mid-February unveiling
to accommodate modifications to the product range.
The latest report from Yonhap corroborates the February timeframe, suggesting that Samsung might conduct the event in
mid-February, with retail availability following approximately two weeks later. The delayed launch would still enable
Samsung to showcase fresh hardware and Galaxy AI enhancements ahead of the Mobile World Congress, commencing on March 2,
ensuring the Galaxy S26 Ultra maintains global attention.
**Chipset Details Emerge**
Amidst the fluctuating launch plans, details regarding specifications have surfaced later than usual. A significant
development emerged from recent FCC filings, indicating that both network-locked and unlocked versions of the Galaxy S26
Ultra are expected to incorporate a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.
This strongly implies that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen five processor will be available globally. Industry
insiders also speculate that Samsung might receive a slightly optimized version of the chipset, fine-tuned for superior
performance on its flagship offering.
Despite these delays and internal revisions, the Galaxy brand remains a cornerstone of Samsung’s identity. For countless
