Samsung brought a major design change to One UI with the One UI 7 update earlier this year. While One UI 8 didn't get

many user-facing design changes, Samsung appears to be preparing UI improvements for One UI 8.5. We have discovered that

the Calculator app will get some subtle design improvements as well.

In the latest internal beta version of One UI 8.5, we've spotted that the stock Calculator app now has a drop shadow

effect for all the primary buttons (numbers and operators). Buttons for switching the mode, turning on the unit

converter, and viewing the history don't have this effect.

Moreover, when you tap a button, it displays a glowing colour, creating an aura around the button. The colour of this

glow changes depending on the mode you are using and whether you are using dark mode or light mode. As you can see in

the screenshots below, the drop shadow effect for all the buttons is visible in the Scientific and Unit Converter modes

as well.

As revealed in the One UI 8.5 changelog, the Calculator app also suggests numbers and formulas that are copied to the

device clipboard. You can quickly tap those suggestions to enter those numbers or formulas to see the final result,

thereby saving time. This feature is called Nudges.

Unfortunately, Samsung still hasn't added a currency converter to the Calculator. This is something we've been asking

since 2017. It is probably the only major feature that is missing in the app.
