Shubman Gill has joined the Indian team in Ahmedabad for the fifth and final T20I match against South Africa. Despite a

toe injury casting doubt on his availability, he arrived with the squad on Thursday.

The injury occurred during a net session before the fourth T20I, which was ultimately called off due to bad weather in

Lucknow. Gill's recent form slump adds another layer of complexity to the team management's selection process for the

series decider on Friday. Sanju Samson is being considered as a potential replacement if Gill is ruled out.

This injury concern compounds what has already been a frustrating tour for Gill. He previously missed a significant

portion of the Test series against South Africa after sustaining a neck injury in the first Test held in Kolkata. This

earlier injury also sidelined him for the subsequent three-match ODI series.

India currently leads the five-match T20I series 2-1. The final game in Ahmedabad marks the team's last international

match of the year. Following this series, the focus will shift to the home season, which begins with a three-match ODI

series against New Zealand, followed by five T20Is starting on January 11.
