As an avid sports fan, Trump’s interest in soccer has been steadily growing as the 2026 World Cup, set to be hosted in
the United States, Mexico, and Canada next summer, draws nearer.
Trump received FIFA’s new peace prize at the World Cup draw. He is the first person to receive this award. FIFA
president Gianni Infantino, who has a close relationship with Trump, presented the prize during the event at the Kennedy
Trump said the award was “one of the great honors" of his life.
“Thank you very much. This is truly one of the great honors of my life. And beyond awards, Gianni and I were discussing
this, we saved millions and millions of lives. The world is a safer place now." Trump said.
Infantino said FIFA chose Trump for the prize because of his “exceptional" efforts to promote peace and unity.
He gave Trump a gold trophy, a certificate, and a medal.
