Delhi Capitals have named Jemimah Rodrigues as their captain for the 2026 Women's Premier League season. The decision,
announced on December 23, 2025, sees the 25-year-old India international take the helm after being a key member of the
franchise since the WPL's inaugural season.
Rodrigues' appointment comes on the heels of her significant contribution to India's ICC Women’s World Cup victory. Her
unbeaten 127 against Australia in the semi-final, leading to a record-breaking chase of 339, showcased her ability to
perform under pressure. This performance context is crucial, as it demonstrates her capacity to handle high-stakes
situations, a quality deemed essential for captaincy.
Within the Delhi Capitals setup, Rodrigues has played 27 WPL matches, accumulating 507 runs at a strike rate of 137.67.
She has been a consistent presence, featuring in all three WPL finals – although the team has finished as runners-up
each time. Her familiarity with the team environment and consistent performance make her a logical choice for
Team owners Parth Jindal and Kiran Kumar Grandhi emphasized Rodrigues' on-field performance, her positive influence
