Sandfall Interactive’s debut role-playing game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is already one of the biggest gaming titles
and also one of the most-played Xbox Game Pass games of 2025. The game has already been nominated for the 2025 Game of
the Year award and has now added yet another accolade to its name, as Microsoft has announced it as the biggest new
third-party game launch on Xbox Game Pass in 2025.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has won this honour after Microsoft examined data from every day one Xbox Game Pass launch
this year, and ranked every third-party game by its new players during its first 30 days of availability. Further,
speaking to Xbox Wire, Sandfall Interactive creative director Guillaume Broche shared how grateful he is to the fans out
there for the outpouring of support and love for the game.
"This year has been so far beyond what any of us could have imagined, and it’s down to how passionate and supportive our
fans have been to make that a reality," said Sandfall Interactive creative director, Guillaume Broche, in an Xbox Wire
post. "It’s really nerve-wracking to be a new studio releasing our first game, but the support of everyone has really
made everything feel like a dream."
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released on April 24, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It has already
broken the record for having the most nominations across its award categories, as the game has received 12 nominations
at next week's The Game Awards. Moreover, by early October, its sales had exceeded 5 million copies.
