Real Madrid's search for a long-term center-back pairing continues, and a new name has emerged: Nico Schlotterbeck. This
potential move, however, might not sit well with Barcelona fans, as they also have their eyes on the Borussia Dortmund
Since Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane's departures, Real Madrid has struggled to solidify its central defense. While
pairings like Militao and Alaba, or Rudiger and Nacho, have brought success, the club is still seeking consistency. The
hoped-for partnership of Huijsen and Militao has been hampered by injuries and stylistic clashes.
According to Football Espana, Real Madrid is now competing with Barcelona and Bayern Munich for Schlotterbeck's
signature. Dortmund reportedly values the 26-year-old at a minimum of €50 million, with salary demands between €14-€20
million gross per season. Schlotterbeck's contract runs until 2027, but he is expected to seek a move to a bigger club
Schlotterbeck was previously linked with Bayern Munich before joining Dortmund. While he reportedly favors a move to
Real Madrid, his German nationality could still make Bayern a strong contender. Real Madrid is attracted to
Schlotterbeck's attributes: his height, speed, leadership qualities, and aggressive playing style. Being left-footed, he
could form an ideal partnership with Eder Militao.
Despite other options like Konate and Upamecano potentially being available on free transfers, the €50 million price tag
for Schlotterbeck is considered a reasonable deal in the current market.
