Yashasvi Jaiswal was rushed to the hospital after a SMAT match due to severe stomach issues. He underwent tests and was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young Indian batter, was admitted to Aditya Birla Hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad shortly after a recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match, according to reports from a senior journalist at the Indian Express. Jaiswal had been experiencing stomach cramps during the game, which worsened considerably after its conclusion.
Following his admission, doctors diagnosed Jaiswal with acute gastroenteritis. The 23-year-old received intravenous medication and underwent both ultrasound (USG) and CT scans. Medical professionals have advised him to continue his medication and get sufficient rest.
Despite his discomfort, Jaiswal participated in the match, scoring 15 runs off 16 balls. Mumbai successfully chased down a target of 217, securing a three-wicket victory. Ajinkya Rahane's impressive unbeaten 72 and Sarfaraz Khan's explosive 73 off 22 balls were instrumental in Mumbai's win. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. the team was later eliminated from the tournament.
Reportedly, Jaiswal was visibly uncomfortable throughout the game, and the pain intensified afterward, leading to immediate medical attention. While the BCCI has not yet released an official statement regarding his health, updates are anticipated soon.
Jaiswal has been in impressive form recently. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 145 runs in three matches, maintaining an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6. He also performed well in the recent ODI series against South Africa, scoring 156 runs in three matches at an average of 78, including his first ODI century.
With no immediate international assignments on his schedule and not being a part of the current T20I setup for India, Jaiswal is expected to have ample time to recover before India's next international matches in mid-January.
