Yashasvi Jaiswal was hospitalized after Mumbai's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match in Pune due to severe stomach cramps. He underwent tests and received treatment.
Following Mumbai's victory against Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy held in Pune, Yashasvi Jaiswal was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday. The young Indian batter experienced significant stomach cramps throughout the day, leading to his hospitalization.
According to a report in the Times of India, Jaiswal was admitted to Aditya Birla Hospital due to acute gastroenteritis. In the high-scoring match, Mumbai secured a thrilling three-wicket win while chasing a target of 217. Jaiswal contributed 15 runs off 16 balls before his condition worsened.
The report further detailed that Jaiswal had been struggling with stomach cramps during the game, and his discomfort intensified after the match concluded. Medical professionals at the hospital conducted an ultrasound and a CT scan to assess his condition. He received appropriate medical care and was subsequently advised to continue medication and prioritize rest.
In the match itself, Ajinkya Rahane's unbeaten 72, along with Sarfaraz Khan's explosive 73 off just 22 balls, propelled Mumbai to victory in their Super League Group B clash against Rajasthan in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Rahane's innings consisted of 7 fours and 3 sixes in 41 balls, but it was Sarfaraz Khan's aggressive batting that truly accelerated Mumbai's chase of the 217-run target. His innings included seven sixes and six fours.
Mumbai maintained a strong scoring rate throughout their innings, successfully reaching the target with 11 balls remaining, despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Rahane anchored the chase, ensuring they remained on track. Jaiswal's early dismissal for 15, after a 41-run opening partnership with Rahane, did little to deter Mumbai. Rahane then partnered with Sarfaraz, adding a rapid 111 runs off just 39 balls for the second wicket.
Sarfaraz's dismissal, courtesy of Manav Suthar (who took 3 wickets for 23 runs), triggered a mini-collapse, with Mumbai losing wickets in quick succession. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (0), Sairaj Patil (4), Suryansh Shedge (10), and Shardul Thakur (2) all failed to provide substantial support to Rahane. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. Atharva Ankolekar, batting at No. 8, played a crucial cameo, smashing three sixes and a four in his 9-ball 26. This shifted the momentum back in Mumbai's favor, allowing Rahane to guide the team to victory, with Shams Mulani (4 not out) at the other end.
