Adelaide Strikers defeated Sydney Sixers, ending their SCG losing streak thanks to strong performances from Wood, Overton, and Scott.

The Adelaide Strikers secured their first win at the SCG since 2017, overcoming the Sydney Sixers by reaching their 160-run target with just four balls remaining. Jamie Overton's outstanding all-round performance, along with contributions from Luke Wood and Liam Scott, proved decisive.

Overton's contribution included taking 2 wickets for 22 runs in his four overs, which helped restrict the Sixers to a manageable total. He then scored a valuable 30 runs off 20 balls during a tense chase.

The Sixers' innings saw Josh Philippe score a quick 46 off 28 balls, but the team struggled to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. Wood, Overton, and Lloyd Pope combined to take seven wickets for the Strikers.

Babar Azam's struggles in the BBL continued, managing only 9 runs off 10 balls. Hasan Ali, also making his BBL debut, had a tough time, finishing with 0-36 from his four overs.

The Strikers' chase saw Matt Short and Chris Lynn start aggressively, but their quick dismissals gave the Sixers hope. Liam Scott's 51 off 32 balls steadied the innings, though wickets continued to fall, including a spectacular catch by Dan Hughes to remove Harry Nielsen.

Overton's dismissal with six runs still needed added to the tension, but the Strikers ultimately secured the victory, leaving the Sixers with their second loss of the season. Earlier, Babar Azam had a close call early in his innings when he nearly got run out.

Philippe's innings was a positive for the Sixers, continuing his good form from previous matches. Pope's knack for taking crucial wickets was again on display, including dismissing Jordan Silk.

A moment of silence was held before the game to remember the victims of the Bondi terror atrocity, and security measures were increased at the venue.
