Virat Kohli, who now only plays the ODI format, has slammed consecutive tons and in the process already smashed quite a few records.
India and South Africa are all set to lock horns in the series decider at the VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. The Proteas, who are on a full-fledged three format tour of India, have so far presented a strong show, which is evident from the results.
The visitors first whitewashed India in a two-match series, which comes as a stern blow as far the latter's World Test Championship (WTC) final aspirations are considered.
Then heading into the ODI, South Africa have put up an equally good fight and the three-match contest is now levelled at 1-1. Despite the tight contest, there have been a few positives for India, with the biggest being Virat Kohli's rich form. The talisman, who now only plays the ODI format, has slammed consecutive tons and in the process already smashed quite a few records. In this article we take a look at the records that Kohli can break in the third and final ODI.
Kohli has a great chance to become the first Indian cricketer to slam three consecutive ODI hundreds multiple times. Both Kohli and Rohit Sharma have achieved this feat previously but none between them could repeat it. Can Kohli do it on Saturday, only time will tell.

Meanwhile, if Kohli does manage to reach the triple-digit mark, he will become the first cricketer to score four straight ODI hundreds against South Africa. Before the ODIs in Ranchi and Raipur, he had struck a century against them in the previous meeting between the two nations at the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
In addition to these, a century partnership between Kohli and Rohit would put them in second place for most 100-run partnerships in ODIs. They have combined together to stitch 20 such partnerships, and are on level terms with Sri Lanka legends with TM Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara. Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly hold the record with 26-century partnerships.
Meanwhile, Rohit needs another 120 runs to overtake Jacques Kallis and take ninth place among ODI's top run scorers.
