UEFA has fined Eintracht Frankfurt €38,000 and banned them from selling tickets for two away games after fan disturbances at Camp Nou.
Eintracht Frankfurt is facing severe penalties from UEFA following the unruly behavior of their fans at the Spotify Camp Nou. The repercussions for the Bundesliga club are now official, according to a report by SPORT.
The disturbances, which drew widespread condemnation throughout Europe, triggered an investigation by UEFA's disciplinary bodies. UEFA concluded that Eintracht Frankfurt supporters violated regulations concerning crowd control and stadium safety after reviewing the evidence.
Consequently, the German club will suffer both financial and sporting sanctions.
Specifically, Eintracht Frankfurt has been fined a total of €38,000. More significantly, the club is prohibited from selling tickets to its fans for their next two away matches in UEFA club competitions.
UEFA's decision was based on violations of Article 16 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations. The charges included "throwing objects, setting off fireworks, and damaging the stadium and/or its facilities," as well as "causing disturbances among the public."
The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body formally issued the ruling, detailing the sanctions and their justifications. The breakdown includes a €30,000 fine and a ban on selling tickets for one match due to fireworks and disturbances, plus an additional €8,000 fine for property damage.
UEFA has also mandated that Eintracht Frankfurt take responsibility for the damage inflicted at the stadium. The club must contact FC Barcelona within 30 days of the ruling notification to arrange for repairs of the damage caused by their fans during the match.
