Leon has finally made his appearance in the new Resident Evil 9 trailer, showcased during The Game Awards 2025. After months of anticipation and countless fan theories, the series’s most iconic hero returned in an action-packed trailer. The latest trailer features horror elements with intense combat moments, hinting at a chilling and immersive survival-horror experience for players.
The Game Awards 2025: New Resident Evil 9 reveal trailer features Leon
When Resident Evil 9 was initially revealed, most of the spotlight was placed on Grace Ashcroft, one of the game’s central characters. This left many longtime fans disappointed since Leon wasn’t shown, while others began speculating that he would eventually appear. Well-known insider Dusk Golem later claimed that Leon would be part of the new installment, and now Capcom has finally confirmed it. During The Game Awards, the studio unveiled an official trailer for Resident Evil Requiem, and Leon is front and center. The trailer also introduces a new stalker-type antagonist named Victor Gideon, who relentlessly hunts Grace Ashcroft. He calls her “special” and the “chosen one,” though his real intentions remain a mystery. In Resident Evil Requiem, Leon S. Kennedy returns to Raccoon City to assist Grace and take on Gideon, and the fresh footage gives players a glimpse of the gameplay as well. The new Leon-focused trailer hints at a more action-driven experience. Alongside his signature kicks and precise gunplay, Leon is shown wielding a chainsaw against enemies. This moment strongly suggests that players will now be able to turn enemy weapons against them, adding a new layer to combat.

Alongside the new Resident Evil 9 trailer, Capcom also unveiled a fresh look at their upcoming title, Pragmata. The game has moved a step closer to launch, with a confirmed release date and a playable demo now available. Additionally, Capcom announced for the first time that Pragmata will also be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. Pragmata has long intrigued Capcom fans as a completely new IP shrouded in mystery since its reveal. Set on a lunar research station, the action-adventure game follows Hugh, the main protagonist, as he searches for a way to stop the hostile AI controlling the facility and find his way back to Earth. He’s accompanied by Diana, an android who resembles a young child and often sits on Hugh’s back during combat sequences.
