Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming film, Jana Nayagan, has surpassed the UK advance booking record previously held by his own film, Leo. Details here.
Thalapathy Vijay's highly anticipated film, Jana Nayagan, is set to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Pongal. This film marks Vijay's last on-screen appearance before he transitions into a full-time career in politics.
Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is an action drama drawing inspiration from Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari. The film's producers have already released a selection of songs to generate excitement.
Advance ticket sales have commenced in the UK, and Jana Nayagan has already achieved a significant milestone. The film has set a new record for Tamil cinema, selling over 12,700 tickets within the first 24 hours of availability. Previously, the record was held by Vijay's own film, Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Leo, which generated considerable buzz, sold 10,000 tickets in the same timeframe. Jana Nayagan has surpassed this number by a significant margin. This strong initial response suggests that audiences are eager to give the Tamil superstar a memorable send-off from the film industry.
The film features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, with Mamitha Baiju, a rising star in Bollywood, playing a crucial role. The supporting cast includes Bobby Deol, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Priyamani, and Narain. Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions is producing the film, and Anirudh Ravichander is the music director.
