Airtel has revised its Unlimited 5G data booster packs, reducing the bundled data. Launched in July 2024, these packs now offer less data than before.
Airtel has adjusted the data allowances for its booster packs that are linked to its Unlimited 5G data offering. These changes, effectively a tariff adjustment in advance of a possible 2025 hike, affect subscribers who use the packs to gain Unlimited 5G access.
In July 2024, Airtel introduced three Unlimited 5G booster packs. These add-ons allowed subscribers on existing plans without Unlimited 5G to upgrade and enjoy the faster speeds.
**Airtel's Unlimited 5G Add-On Changes**
Previously, Airtel customers on plans with at least 2GB of daily data already received Unlimited 5G. The booster packs targeted users on lower-tier plans (1GB or 1.5GB per day), offering a way to access Unlimited 5G via add-ons priced at Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151.
Initially, these packs provided 3GB, 6GB, and 9GB of extra data, in addition to Unlimited 5G for the remainder of the plan's validity. The Unlimited 5G data was separate from the regular plan's data limit and only usable within 5G network areas. Now, Airtel has reduced the data included with these add-on packs.
**Revised Data Allowances**
Airtel's website indicates the Rs 51, Rs 101, and Rs 151 Unlimited 5G add-on packs now include 1GB (down from 3GB), 2GB (down from 6GB), and 3GB (down from 9GB) of data, respectively. The Unlimited 5G benefit remains. Once the allocated data is used, customers will be charged 50 paise per MB. These add-on packs are only available to customers on eligible base plans.
