Mandhira Kapur alleges disparity in payments between Priya Sachdev and her mother amid an ongoing estate battle over Sunjay Kapur's assets.
The dispute over Sunjay Kapur's estate continues, with Sunjay's sister, Mandhira, making new claims about the financial arrangements within the family. Mandhira Kapur recently appeared on the InControversial podcast, where she discussed the ongoing estate feud involving her family and Sunjay Kapur’s widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur.
During the podcast, Mandhira addressed Priya's assertions made during a court hearing. Priya had claimed that Rani, Sunjay's mother, continues to receive over ₹21 lakh from the company and has her personal expenses covered, similar to when Sunjay was alive.
Mandhira countered these claims, stating, “There is a difference between blood and an outsider.” She emphasized that while her father was alive, her mother received significantly more than she does now. She added that her mother hadn't closely monitored her income previously, but now they are scrutinizing the financial situation. Mandhira expressed her dismay that her mother now receives only ₹12 lakh, a drop from the ₹13 lakh she received after taxes and deductions from an initial ₹21 lakh.
Mandhira further alleged a significant disparity in income, claiming, “But the outsider is getting close to I would think ₹3 to 5 crore every month. Because she is getting ₹1 crore from just one company and she has taken over everything. She is getting ₹5 crore, and the creator of the company is getting ₹12 lakh.”
In response to Priya’s statements, Mandhira asserted that Priya is not doing anyone a favor, as the funds originate from the company. She challenged Priya's suggestion that she is looking after Sunjay's mother, stating, “She (Priya) is not doing any favour to anyone. It is coming from the company. She thinks she is looking after my mother? I think she needs to have a reality check and rephrase that… It (the company) is still with my mother as my father will always be associated with Sona not Sachdev's not matter how much they try and want, but that is not going to happen. She is not the face of the family or the company. She shouldn’t even be around.” Mandhira emphasized her mother's continued association with the company, Sona Comstar.
The legal battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estate involves Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, who have joined forces with Priya Sachdev. They are contesting the validity of a will presented by Priya, Sunjay’s third wife, in the Delhi High Court. Samaira and Kiaan allege that the will is forged and fabricated with the intention of excluding them from their late father’s inheritance. Both sides have made accusations against each other throughout the court proceedings.
Sunjay Kapur, who passed away in London in June while playing polo, was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a prominent auto parts manufacturer. He was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and they have two children, Samaira (born in 2005) and Kiaan (born in 2011). Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017, and they have a son named Azarias.
