Priya Kapur is resisting a forensic analysis of Sunjay Kapur's will, challenged by Karisma Kapoor's representatives in the Rs 30,000 crore estate dispute.
The ongoing dispute over Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 crore estate has taken another turn in the Delhi High Court. Priya Sachdev Kapur is opposing a request for a forensic examination of Sunjay Kapur's will, a document at the heart of the inheritance battle. This resistance comes after Karisma Kapoor's legal team filed a plea questioning Priya Kapur's account of company involvement.
The late Sunjay Kapur's children, from his previous marriage to Karisma Kapoor, have legally challenged the will, alleging forgery. During a recent hearing before the Joint Registrar of the Delhi High Court, serious questions were raised about the presented documents' authenticity and the involved parties' conduct. Mr. Gagandeep Jindal, Joint Registrar, presided over the hearing, where the primary point of contention was the application for inspecting and forensically analyzing the original will. Karisma Kapoor's children requested independent verification to ascertain the will's legitimacy.
Priya Sachdev Kapur's counsel argued that Karisma Kapoor's team had not submitted their responses despite previous deadlines, suggesting delay tactics. They also stated that Priya Kapur had already provided complete asset details before Justice Jyoti Singh, deeming Karisma's plea for disclosure as unnecessary. Karisma's side countered that the disclosures were incomplete and indicated they would file a response later.
Adding a brief moment of uncertainty, Sunjay Kapur’s mother initially declined to file a response to one of the applications, but quickly reversed her position after consulting with her legal team. The Joint Registrar, after considering arguments on both applications, has scheduled the matter for further review on January 20, 2026.
