Ashneer Grover, Rajesh Yadav, and Sanyam Sharma satirized extravagant celebrity weddings and the Smriti Mandhana-Palash Muchchal breakup. Their spoof featured a father planning his daughter's third marriage with an astronomical budget and absurd demands, including problematic personalities and renowned directors, highlighting the excesses of celebrity events.
Cricketer Smriti Mandhana recently dominated conversations after she acknowledged ending her engagement with Palash Muchhal. Soon after, entrepreneur and influencer Ashneer Grover teamed up with actors Rajesh Yadav and Sanyam Sharma to craft a sharp, satirical jab aimed at the Smriti-Palash breakup and the trend of extravagant, celebrity-stuffed weddings.
In their spoof clip, Sanyam portrayed an overbearing customer preparing for his daughter’s third marriage. When Rajesh casually inquired about the spending limit, Sanyam boldly declared a figure of one thousand crore. Ashneer immediately cut him off, reminding him of another appointment, nudging Sanyam to raise his imaginary budget even further. Catching on instantly, Sanyam upgraded the number to two thousand crore. Ashneer then agreed smoothly, saying they would accept the task due to a personal reference.
Sanyam’s next request was for seasoned choreographers. The pretend wedding planners refused, explaining that choreographers usually lead to "broken weddings and huge losses." At that moment, Sanyam made a cricket-style swing with his hands, clearly hinting at the controversy around Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s scrapped wedding. Rajesh and Ashneer responded with amused understanding.
For those unfamiliar, the Palash-Smriti wedding collapsed unexpectedly. Although both personalities avoided addressing the cause publicly, widespread gossip suggested Palash’s alleged connection with choreographer Nadika Dwivedi had triggered tensions.
The absurd wishes escalated further. When Ashneer and Rajesh recommended Udaipur as the perfect location for the festivities, Rajesh jokingly added the name of a budget hotel chain. Sanyam, unimpressed, questioned whether its founder, Ritesh Agarwal, would personally present the room keys. Ashneer solemnly affirmed that he would.
Continuing the humour, Sanyam stated that his daughter preferred problematic personalities. Without missing a beat, Ashneer asked Rajesh to display their Bollywood celebrity list, adding that Sanyam could select anyone suitably controversial.
The team then poked fun at famous actors, especially the Khans. Sanyam mentioned that the groom was on the shorter side and therefore wanted superstars known for similar stature. Rajesh responded that they had an assortment of Khans available, clarifying they were not shaming anyone but merely following the requirement.
Their satire peaked when Sanyam insisted that filmmaker Christopher Nolan should direct the wedding ceremony. Ashneer followed up earnestly by suggesting they also invite SS Rajamouli from the South to bring an Indian flavour to the production.
The video, posted on December 3, amassed over ninety-one thousand likes. Yet several social media users criticized the trio, calling the skit distasteful, unnecessary, and crossing personal boundaries.
“Ashneer bhai kya majboori thi?” read one comment. Another remarked, That choreographer detailing was a low blow. Another commented, “Hadd mein raho..”
