Shubman Gill will miss the fourth T20I against South Africa due to a foot injury sustained during a practice session. Sanju Samson may replace him.
Shubman Gill is set to miss Wednesday's fourth T20 International against South Africa in Lucknow after suffering a foot injury. The injury occurred during a nets session on Tuesday.
Sanju Samson may be given the opportunity to open the innings in Gill's absence. Samson last played a T20I in October against Australia in Melbourne.
Gill, who is the team's vice-captain and the regular captain in both ODI and Test formats, has struggled to find his form in the current series. He recorded scores of 4 and 0 in the first two matches before scoring 28 off 28 balls in the third. The team values his abilities, so this injury is particularly unfortunate.
Gill also missed previous Test and ODI series due to a neck injury. His absence was felt in both formats, especially in the Test series, which India lost 0-2. The BCCI has announced that the toss has been delayed due to fog in Lucknow; it remains to be seen what captain Suryakumar Yadav will say regarding Gill's injury at that time.
