Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series may launch in the early 2026, with leaks suggesting the company is holding back major camera upgrades to keep the pricing unexpectedly stable.
Samsung’s next flagship lineup seems to be inching closer to launch, and fresh leaks hint that the Galaxy S26 series may arrive earlier than expected but with a twist that many buyers may not see coming. While the phone is likely to follow Samsung’s usual three-model structure, a new report suggests the company has quietly reversed course on its camera upgrade plans to keep the overall pricing in check. If true, this could make the Galaxy S26 one of Samsung’s most cost-conscious flagship updates in recent years, even though it might disappoint users hoping for hardware improvements.
Samsung Galaxy S26 launch and price details leak online
The latest information comes from Korean publication The Elec, which claims Samsung has decided to stick with the same camera setup used on the Galaxy S25. Rising component costs reportedly pushed the company to scale back earlier plans for new sensors. Instead, Samsung is said to have prioritised stability in retail pricing, something that became more crucial after Apple kept the starting price of the base iPhone 17 unchanged despite adding features like a 120Hz display and higher entry-level storage. According to the report, Samsung appears to have taken note and adjusted its strategy accordingly. To recall, the Samsung Galaxy S25 was launched in India at Rs 80,999 for the base 128GB storage model. The Galaxy S25+ (256GB) was made available at Rs 99,999, whereas the Galaxy S25 Ultra (256GB) went online at Rs 1,29,999.
If these details hold up, the Galaxy S26 will likely ship with a familiar 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 10-megapixel 3x optical zoom telephoto sensor. Even the 12-megapixel front camera is expected to return unchanged. That means any camera gains this year may be driven almost entirely by software refinements and the upcoming Exynos 2600 chipset, rather than sweeping hardware upgrades. Interestingly, the last-minute change in plans has reportedly caused internal delays in Samsung’s production cycle.
The report adds that Samsung will continue with the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra as its standard trio. The Ultra variant is still expected to enter mass production first, while the other two models might only move to mass production early next year. This altered schedule is believed to be one of the reasons Samsung may push the global launch to February 2026 instead of the usual January window. But industry chatter now suggests the official unveiling may still happen in the “next few weeks”, depending on how quickly the revised timeline stabilises.
Even though camera upgrades may be limited this year, Samsung seems to be preparing a big push on the accessories front. A separate report by WinFuture claims the company is planning an extensive lineup of Qi2-friendly cases and chargers for the Galaxy S26 series. Qi2, which uses magnets for secure charging and accessory attachment, appears to be a major focus area for Samsung now.
The leak mentions that nearly all official Galaxy S26 cases will come with integrated magnets. These include magnetic silicone covers for all models, magnetic carbon cases for the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus, and a range of clear and rugged clear magnetic cases. There’s also talk of a magnetic dual-ring holder, though its exact purpose remains under wraps.
Charging speeds may also differ within the lineup. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to support up to 25W wireless charging, while the standard and Plus models may hover closer to 20W. Samsung is also said to be developing a 5,000mAh magnetic wireless battery pack with Qi2 support and a new 25W magnetic wireless charger, reportedly listed as model EP-P2900.
On the protection side, Samsung is expected to offer anti-reflective screen films for all models. The top-end Galaxy S26 Ultra will likely receive more premium treatment with anti-reflective Gorilla Armor glass, the same material that has become a highlight in recent Galaxy Ultra devices. As usual, the S Pen with Bluetooth support is expected to remain an optional accessory for the Ultra model.
