A Russian drone attacked a Turkish-owned civilian vessel, the VIVA, in the Black Sea as it headed to Egypt, according to the Ukrainian Navy. No injuries reported.

The Ukrainian Navy reported that Russia attacked a Turkish civilian vessel with a drone in the Black Sea on November 13, 2025.

According to a Facebook post by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian Federation deliberately targeted the Turkish vessel, named VIVA, with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The ship was en route to Egypt, transporting a cargo of sunflower oil, and was traveling via the established grain corridor.

The Ukrainian Navy stated that there were 11 Turkish citizens aboard the VIVA at the time of the attack. The incident occurred within Ukraine’s exclusive economic zone, specifically in an area beyond the reach of Ukrainian air defenses.

The report indicated that none of the crew members sustained injuries as a result of the drone strike. The VIVA is continuing its voyage toward its intended destination in Egypt.

The Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently in communication with the ship's captain. Additionally, a maritime search and rescue service is prepared to offer assistance should the need arise.

In its statement, the Ukrainian Navy condemned Russia's actions as a violation of international maritime law and the San Remo Manual, emphasizing the contradiction to the principle of freedom of navigation.

This incident follows a prior report from Ukrinform stating that a Russian strike damaged a civilian vessel in the port of Chornomorsk on December 12. Previously, Turkey voiced its concerns regarding the attack on a Turkish-affiliated vessel.
