India's Under-19 team defeated Pakistan by 90 runs in the Asia Cup, powered by Aaron George's 85 and Kanishk Chouhan's all-round performance.
NEW DELHI – India's Under-19 cricket team delivered a dominant performance against Pakistan, securing a 90-run victory in their Asia Cup Group A match on Sunday. The win was fueled by a strong batting display and an impressive bowling effort, led by Kanishk Chouhan and Deepesh Devendran.
India, after being put in to bat, posted a total of 240 runs in 46.1 overs. Aaron George spearheaded the Indian innings with a well-composed 85, while Kanishk Chouhan contributed a valuable 46, and captain Ayush Mhatre added 38.
Pakistan struggled in their chase and were eventually bowled out for 150 runs in 41.2 overs. The Indian bowlers, particularly Chouhan (3/33) and Devendran (3/16), proved too difficult to handle.
Mhatre's quickfire innings, featuring four boundaries and three sixes off 25 balls, gave India a brisk start before Mohammad Sayyam dismissed both openers. George then anchored the innings, consistently finding the boundary and providing stability. Chouhan's late hitting, including three sixes, helped India reach a competitive total of 230, despite wickets falling at regular intervals.
For Pakistan, Sayyam was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 67 runs, while Abdul Subhan also took 3 for 42. Niqab Shafiq supported with two wickets. It wasn't enough to prevent India from taking a comfortable victory, however. Teams observed a protocol of no handshakes.
