Rekha's friend, Bina Ramani, has shared details about the actress's past relationship with Amitabh Bachchan and her subsequent marriage to Mukesh Aggarwal. Ramani revealed that Rekha's deep affection for Bachchan was met with his unwillingness to acknowledge it publicly. This led Rekha to seek a husband, and Ramani introduced her to industrialist Mukesh Aggarwal, whom she married just seven months before his death.

Bina Ramani, a fashion designer, author, and entrepreneur, recently discussed Rekha's life, including her relationship with Amitabh Bachchan and her marriage to Mukesh Aggarwal. She explained that Rekha realized Bachchan, already married to Jaya Bachchan, would never publicly acknowledge their relationship, particularly after entering politics. According to Ramani, Rekha expressed a desire to marry “someone important” during a visit to New York. Ramani introduced her to Mukesh Aggarwal, whom she had met at a party in Delhi through a mutual friend.

Ramani recalled her friend describing Mukesh as Rekha's "most die-hard, ardent fan," capable of reciting any of her dialogues and knowing her life story. Ramani described Mukesh as unassuming in appearance – "short and dark" – but engaging in conversation. She emphasized his sincere admiration for Rekha, recalling his desire to simply meet her. Ramani facilitated their initial phone conversation, with Rekha taking his number but not giving out her own.

According to Ramani, Rekha and Mukesh began talking frequently, despite Rekha's reservations about his looks. Rekha questioned Ramani about Mukesh's appearance, contrasting him with her vision of Amitabh Bachchan. Ramani acknowledged the difference but emphasized Mukesh's good nature, leaving the decision to Rekha. Ramani believes Rekha's heartbreak influenced her decision, leading her to seek "that obsessive love."

Ramani recounted their first in-person meeting at a friend's Mumbai home, noting they seemed happy and had already shared much about themselves. Ramani was surprised when she learned of their marriage shortly after. She had expected more conversations before such a quick decision. Just seven months after the marriage, Mukesh Aggarwal died by suicide.

Reflecting on the marriage, Ramani described it as unrealistic, given Rekha's Bombay lifestyle and the unlikelihood of her adjusting to Delhi. Rekha later discussed her emotional journey after Mukesh's death in an interview with Simi Grewal, describing the shock, denial, anger, self-pity, and eventual acceptance she experienced.
