Mukesh Chhabra discusses casting Sara Arjun, age 20, opposite Ranveer Singh in 'Dhurandhar,' and hints at what's to come in the film's second installment.
Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently spoke with Free Press Journal about his decision to cast Sara Arjun in 'Dhurandhar' alongside Ranveer Singh. He expressed enthusiasm for the increasing opportunities given to newcomers by directors like Aditya.
Chhabra explained that his vision involved creating a complete world with surprise casting choices. He wanted an actress who felt completely fresh. While acknowledging Arjun's previous experience as a child actor, the aim was to present her in a new light. Chhabra has worked with Arjun for several years during auditions and recognized her talent. He believes audiences will be surprised by her performance in 'Dhurandhar Part 2'.
Addressing the 20-year age difference between Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, Chhabra clarified that it was a deliberate choice based on the storyline. According to the script, Ranveer's character is attempting to trap Sara's character. This required a young actress in the 20-21 age range. Chhabra assured that any questions about the age gap will be answered in the sequel. He added that while there are many talented actresses in the 26-27 age bracket, the script specifically called for a younger actress. He found it amusing that people were questioning the age gap, as it aligns perfectly with the film's narrative.
'Dhurandhar 2,' featuring Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun, is slated to arrive in theaters on March 19, 2026.
