Rajinikanth's Padayappa Re-Release First Weekend Collection

To celebrate superstar Rajinikanth's 75th birthday, the re-release of his blockbuster film, Padayappa, has seen a successful opening weekend at the global box office. The movie, which was originally released in 1999, became one of Tamil cinema's highest-grossing films.

The action-packed drama began strongly, earning approximately 4 crore gross worldwide on its first day. While re-released South Indian films often see a drop in performance after the initial day, Padayappa maintained its momentum, achieving collections on par with its opening day.

The film continued its strong performance through Sunday, concluding the opening weekend with approximately 11 crores earned worldwide. Within India, Padayappa grossed between 9.50 and 10 crores, including 8.25 crores specifically in Tamil Nadu. These figures represent a strong showing for a re-released movie.

Padayappa, directed by K. S. Ravikumar and produced by Arunachala Cine Creations, remains a significant Tamil film. Featuring music by A. R. Rahman, it also marked one of the final film appearances of the legendary Sivaji Ganesan. The movie is known for its compelling narrative, memorable soundtrack, and iconic performances.
