Radhika Apte recalls being asked to use padding to enhance her chest and butt while working on a South Indian film, highlighting the challenges she faced on set.
Actress Radhika Apte has shared an experience from her past, recalling a time when she was asked to artificially enhance her body shape for a role in a South Indian film. Apte revealed that while she acknowledges the existence of excellent cinema within the South Indian film industry, she also faced some uncomfortable situations.
Specifically, Apte recounted an incident where she felt pressured to add padding to her breasts and buttocks. "They were like, 'More padding amma!'" Apte stated, expressing her disbelief at the request. She questioned how much rounder they wanted to make her appear. Ultimately, Apte refused, instructing the director not to add any padding.
She further explained that the incident occurred while filming in a small town, where she was the only woman present on set. Lacking a manager or agent at the time, she felt particularly vulnerable, surrounded by an all-male team. This experience, she said, marked the first time she truly recognized the challenges women can face in such environments.
Apte has appeared in several Tamil films, including 'All in All Azhagu Raja,' 'Vetri Selvan,' and 'Kabali.' She also starred in the Telugu film 'Legend,' alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna. Recently, audiences have seen Apte in two OTT releases: 'Saali Mohabbat' on Zee5, and 'Raat Akeli Hai- The Bansal Murders' on Netflix.
