Peter Greene, known for roles in 'Pulp Fiction' and 'The Mask,' was found dead in his NYC apartment. A note referencing the 'Westies' was found.
Peter Greene, best known for his roles in films like "The Mask" and "Pulp Fiction," has died. He was found at his home in New York City.
A neighbor reported finding Greene "lying on the floor, facedown" with a facial injury and "blood everywhere," according to a local outlet. Residents had heard Christmas music playing loudly from inside Greene's apartment for over 24 hours before building management sent a locksmith to investigate.
A handwritten note with the phrase “I’m still a Westie” was found posted on the door of Greene’s apartment. The message apparently referenced the Irish-American gang known as the Westies, which operated out of Hell’s Kitchen in the 1970s and 80s.
Police confirmed that a 60-year-old man was found dead at 3:25 p.m. on Friday after a wellness check, but did not immediately release Greene's name. While the cause of death is still under investigation, authorities stated that the circumstances do not appear suspicious.
Greene's manager, Gregg Edward, said he had spoken with the actor as recently as Wednesday. Edward revealed that Greene was scheduled to undergo surgery to remove a benign tumor near his lungs in the coming days. He described Greene as being otherwise healthy and in good shape.
“It’s a shock,” Edward said. “He wasn’t that old. In pretty good shape for his age, rode his bike everywhere around New York. He’d had some health issues throughout the last couple years, had always fought through and was very strong.”
