Independent MP Pappu Yadav celebrates his son Sarthak Ranjan being drafted by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction for Rs 30 lakh.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were active in the IPL mini-auction held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, securing 13 new players for the 2026 season. With the largest available purse of Rs 64.30 crore, KKR made headlines by acquiring Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for a significant Rs 25.20 crore.
Among the new additions to the KKR squad, Sarthak Ranjan, son of independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, was a notable selection. KKR picked Sarthak, who represents Delhi in domestic cricket, for Rs 30 lakh.
Pappu Yadav expressed his joy and congratulated his son on social media following Sarthak's selection into the world's premier cricket league. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Pappu Yadav wrote, "Badhai ho betu! Jamkar khelo aur apne pratibha ke dum par apni pehchan banao. Apni chahat poori karo. Sarthak Ranjan's domestic cricket record includes 2 First-Class matches, 4 List-A games, and 5 T20 matches for Delhi. In First-Class cricket, he has scored 28 runs, averaging 9.33. His List-A record shows 105 runs at an average of 26.25, and in T20s, he has scored 66 runs with an average of 13.20.
