Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman has received a fine equivalent to 10 per cent of his match fee for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka on November 29. The violation pertains to Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, concerning dissent towards an umpire's decision in an international match. "One demerit point has been added to Zaman's disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period," ICC said in a statement.

The incident took place in the 19th over of Pakistan's innings when Zaman engaged in an extended dispute with the on-field umpires about his wicket dismissal decision. "Zaman admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Reon King of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing." The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob, along with third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi. Reon King from the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees proposed the sanction. For Level 1 breaches, penalties range from an official reprimand to a maximum of 50 percent of a player's match fee, plus one or two demerit points. In the match, Pakistan secured a comfortable six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka to win the Tri-series. Sri Lanka was limited to 114 runs, thanks to three wickets each from Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz. Babar Azam remained unbeaten at 37 runs, while Saim Ayub contributed 36 runs to successfully chase down the target. Pakistan have shown exceptional form this year, winning 21 out of 34 T20 International matches, marking their highest victory count in a calendar year.
