Rajinikanth is back on the big screen, following his recent appearance in 'Coolie,' with the re-release of his classic film, 'Padayappa.' Announced just days before its release, the film quickly generated significant excitement, evident in the rapid advance ticket sales on platforms like BookMyShow. The re-release has lived up to the hype, achieving a strong opening at the worldwide box office.
Originally released in 1999, the Tamil action drama 'Padayappa' was a major commercial success, enjoying an extended run in theaters and celebrating 100 days in many locations. The film has since become a cult classic. This re-release, 25 years later, celebrates both Thalaivaa's 75th birthday and his 50th year in the film industry.

The 4K version of 'Padayappa' received a tremendous response from fans on its opening day, driven by strong pre-sales. The film grossed approximately 4.1 crore worldwide on day one, with around 3.59 crore coming from India.
**Second-Biggest Re-Release Opening in Tamil Nadu**
'Padayappa' earned an impressive 3.15 crores in Tamil Nadu on its opening day, securing the second-largest opening for a re-released film in the state. It surpassed 'Sachein' (2.3 crore gross) to claim the number two spot, only being beaten by Ghilli.
