Sandeep Sidhu, a Surrey resident, won a $500,000 lottery in British Columbia and plans to use the winnings to travel to India to see his family.
A man of Indian origin residing in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, has won a $500,000 lottery prize. Sandeep Sidhu matched all four numbers on his ticket, according to the British Columbia lottery corporation. The odds of achieving this are approximately 1 in 3.7 million.
Sidhu discovered his win at a gas station, CTV News reported. He immediately went home to share the news with his wife, who initially didn't believe him. To prove it, Sidhu scanned the winning ticket, purchased at the Chevron on 175 Street and 56 Avenue, in her presence.
With his newfound wealth, Sidhu plans to travel to India to visit family he hasn't seen in a long time. "It was unexpected and a surprise," Sidhu told the lottery corporation.
