OnePlus is developing a new Turbo Series, hinting at superior battery and performance compared to the OnePlus 15. Launch expected in early 2026.
OnePlus is apparently rethinking its smartphone strategy with the introduction of an entirely new Turbo Series. This move indicates that OnePlus isn't fully satisfied with its current phone lineup, which ranges from budget-friendly Nord models to high-end flagships.
The Turbo Series appears to be aimed at users who prioritize exceptional performance and extended battery life above all else. Li Jie Louis, President of OnePlus China, has confirmed that the Turbo Series is an active project slated for launch soon. Contrary to earlier rumors suggesting a single phone, the Turbo Series will be a dedicated lineup with multiple models planned.
Initially, the focus is on the Chinese market, but previous reports suggest OnePlus might introduce the Turbo lineup in India within the next few months. Recent statements also suggest that the upcoming OnePlus Turbo series could surpass the OnePlus 15 in two significant aspects: battery endurance and performance capabilities.
During OnePlus' 12th-anniversary event, Li Jie officially acknowledged the Turbo Series for the first time. While he didn't disclose specific hardware details, he made noteworthy claims, stating that Turbo phones will offer the best battery life in their segment and deliver "frighteningly strong performance."
These statements have naturally led to comparisons with the OnePlus 15. If the Turbo Series is designed to be superior in performance and battery life, it raises questions about how OnePlus intends to differentiate the two product lines. OnePlus has indicated that Turbo phones will share the same "performance genes" as its flagship devices, suggesting the possibility of a high-end Snapdragon chipset, potentially the same one found in the OnePlus 15, combined with more aggressive tuning or a larger battery.
OnePlus might also optimize the chipset or cooling system to enhance sustained gaming performance. Improved haptics, better thermal management, and gaming-focused accessories could also be part of the Turbo ecosystem. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. OnePlus has primarily emphasized performance and battery life, rather than specific features.
The Turbo Series is being described as gaming-focused, but OnePlus hasn't revealed its pricing strategy. Considering the emphasis on power, the phones could be priced near or even above current flagships. For context, the OnePlus 15 is priced at Rs 72,999 in India.
Earlier leaks suggested the development of a phone called the OnePlus Ace 6 Turbo for China. It was initially believed to be the Turbo phone in question. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. Li Jie's recent comments indicate that Turbo will be a separate lineup from the Ace series, potentially involving a change in branding or positioning upon launch.
Some leaks have also hinted at impressive hardware specifications, including a large 6.78-inch OLED display with high refresh rates and a potentially massive 9,000mAh battery. If accurate, these details would align with OnePlus' claims regarding endurance and performance, especially for demanding gaming scenarios.
Currently, timelines suggest a launch in China in early 2026, possibly around January or February. Reports remain conflicting regarding the chipset, with speculation about both Snapdragon and MediaTek options, suggesting the project is still in development. With OnePlus' official acknowledgment of the Turbo Series, more information is expected in the coming weeks as the brand reveals its plans for this new performance-oriented lineup.
