OnePlus is gearing up to release the OnePlus 15R in India, adding to its lineup of premium mid-range phones. The launch is slated to happen in just two days. The R series is known for delivering strong performance, offering an alternative to OnePlus's flagship devices, and the 15R appears to be continuing that tradition.
While OnePlus hasn't officially confirmed the pricing for India or most of the specifications, the phone's debut in China as the OnePlus Ace 6T provides a good indication of what to expect. Here’s a look at leaked details regarding its price, battery, display, camera, and other features.
OnePlus 15R: Key Specs and Leaked Details
At the heart of the OnePlus 15R is expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This would make it among the first phones worldwide to use this particular version of Qualcomm's latest high-end processor. According to Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, the Ace 6T is the first smartphone powered by this chip, which was reportedly developed in collaboration with OnePlus. The company is emphasizing gaming capabilities, claiming smoother gameplay at high refresh rates, thanks to a custom gaming kernel able to sustain 165Hz in supported games.
Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found in the higher-end OnePlus 15, the 15R's chip is a slightly scaled-down version. The standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 has lower CPU clock speeds and lacks Qualcomm’s High-Performance Memory. Despite these differences, it should still offer a significant performance boost over last year’s models and could rival phones in a higher price bracket, possibly including OnePlus's own 13s.
The design of the OnePlus 15R is expected to align with the brand’s latest aesthetic. Teasers suggest it will feature the same squircle-shaped camera module seen on recent OnePlus phones. OnePlus has confirmed a 165Hz refresh rate display, highlighting its focus on gamers. Leaks from China indicate a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution, balancing visual clarity and battery efficiency.
Battery life is another area where the 15R could excel. The Ace 6T includes a large 8,000mAh battery and supports 100W fast charging. If the Indian version mirrors this, it would be the largest battery ever in a OnePlus phone. OnePlus's marketing emphasizes long-lasting performance, further suggesting this configuration. Such a battery setup would be especially attractive to users who prioritize gaming and extended screen time.
Regarding memory and storage, leaks point to configurations with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and as much as 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Camera expectations are more moderate. The phone is rumored to have a dual rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary camera, along with a 32-megapixel front camera. This suggests that photography won't be its primary focus, especially compared to OnePlus's flagship models.
Other anticipated features include a metal middle frame, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, an X-axis linear motor for improved haptics, and NFC support. While the Chinese version uses ColorOS, the Indian version is expected to come with OxygenOS based on Android 16.
OnePlus 15R: Expected Price in India
Pricing is still uncertain. In China, the Ace 6T starts at CNY 2,599, which is approximately Rs 33,000. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. Indian pricing is typically higher due to taxes and market factors. The previous OnePlus 13R launched in India at Rs 42,999, and the 15R is expected to remain below Rs 50,000. This is largely because the OnePlus 13s is already priced at Rs 54,999, and OnePlus is unlikely to allow significant overlap between its own models.
It's important to remember that these details are based on leaks and information specific to the Chinese market. Until OnePlus officially announces the details, this information should be considered with caution. With the India launch just two days away, official pricing and specifications will soon be revealed. Stay tuned to India Today Tech for the latest updates.
