OnePlus is gearing up for a major product launch in India tonight, unveiling both the OnePlus 15R smartphone and the OnePlus Pad Go 2 tablet. The event is particularly significant, coinciding with OnePlus's 12th anniversary in the Indian market, highlighting the country's crucial role in the company's global strategy.
The launch event will be held in Bengaluru, starting at 6:55 PM IST. A livestream will be available on the OnePlus India YouTube channel, where the final specifications, pricing, and availability details are expected to be revealed during the keynote. OnePlus has also invited community members to attend the celebration, underscoring its strong user engagement in India.
The OnePlus 15R, along with its Ace Edition counterpart, will be the primary focus of the event. While official pricing remains undisclosed, leaks suggest at least two variants: one with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, and another with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The confirmed color options for India include Charcoal Black, Mint Green, and Electric Violet. Sales will occur through Amazon and the OnePlus India online store.
Performance-wise, the OnePlus 15R is expected to live up to the reputation of the R-series. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, making it among the first phones worldwide to feature this non-Elite version of Qualcomm’s latest processor. According to Li Jie, president of OnePlus China, the Ace 6T – the base model for the Indian 15R – is the first smartphone to utilize this chip. OnePlus is also emphasizing gaming capabilities, promising smoother gameplay at high refresh rates and support for up to 165Hz in compatible games through a custom gaming kernel.
The phone's design reflects OnePlus’ updated style, featuring a squircle-shaped rear camera module. The front is likely to have a 6.7-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a confirmed 165Hz refresh rate, balancing visual clarity and power efficiency.
Battery performance could be a major selling point. The Ace 6T, exclusive to China, features an 8,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging. If this configuration is available in India, the OnePlus 15R would become the brand’s smartphone with the largest battery to date, which would appeal to gamers and heavy users.
Camera hardware appears to be more standard, with leaks indicating a dual rear setup with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel secondary camera, along with a 32-megapixel front camera. Other expected features include a metal middle frame, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, an X-axis linear motor, NFC, and OxygenOS based on Android 16.
Leaked pricing suggests the 256GB variant may be priced between Rs 47,000 and Rs 49,000, while the 512GB model could exceed Rs 52,000, with potential bank discounts of up to Rs 4,000.
Alongside the smartphone, OnePlus will also introduce the Pad Go 2, which features a larger 12.1-inch display, higher resolution, Dolby Vision support, and a new MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Ultra chipset. The tablet includes a 10,050mAh battery, stylus support for the first time, and is expected to be priced under Rs 25,000.
