OnePlus is preparing to wrap up 2025 with a significant product launch for the Indian market. The OnePlus 15R smartphone and the OnePlus Pad Go 2 tablet will be unveiled tomorrow, December 17, at a live event in Bengaluru. The event will also be globally accessible via livestream.
The OnePlus 15R is expected to be a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone category, offering a near-flagship experience. The Pad Go 2, on the other hand, will be positioned as a premium Android tablet option.
Here’s a breakdown of the confirmed details and expectations surrounding these upcoming devices.
OnePlus 15R: Confirmed Details
OnePlus has already revealed several key specifications of the OnePlus 15R, highlighting it as a notable upgrade from the 13R model. A major highlight is the confirmed 7,400mAh battery. According to OnePlus, this is not only larger than the 13R's battery but also surpasses the battery capacity of the flagship OnePlus 15. The company also states that the battery is designed to withstand extreme conditions and retain at least 80% of its original capacity after four years of use.
The OnePlus 15R will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, making its global debut with this phone. OnePlus states that this chip was co-developed and optimized with Qualcomm over a 24-month period to enhance both performance and efficiency. In addition to the main processor, the 15R includes a OnePlus G2 Wi-Fi chip for improved connectivity and a dedicated Touch Response Chip designed to accelerate display touch input registration.
The phone will operate on OxygenOS 16, which is based on Android 16. It is anticipated to be available with 12GB and 16GB RAM options, and storage space of up to 512GB.
Regarding the display, OnePlus has confirmed a 165Hz refresh rate 1.5K AMOLED panel. The phone will also boast strong durability, with official IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance – a first for the R-series.
The cameras are also receiving upgrades. The OnePlus 15R will feature a 32-megapixel front camera with autofocus support. The selfie camera is capable of recording 4K video at up to 30fps, which is a significant improvement over the 1080p limit of the OnePlus 13R.
The rear camera of the OnePlus 15R will support 4K video recording at 120fps, bringing flagship-level video capabilities to the mid-range market segment. While the full rear camera hardware specifications are not yet available from OnePlus, leaks suggest a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), along with an ultrawide lens.
Design-wise, the OnePlus 15R is rumored to closely resemble the OnePlus Ace 6T, which was recently launched in China. If this is accurate, the phone might feature a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution and improved touch sampling. OnePlus has already confirmed three color options for the Indian market: Charcoal Black, Mint Green, and a special Ace Edition color called Electric Violet.
OnePlus Pad Go 2: Confirmed Details
Alongside the 15R, OnePlus will also launch the OnePlus Pad Go 2, an upgraded tablet targeted towards students and young professionals. OnePlus has confirmed that it will feature a 12.1-inch display with a 2800 x 1980 resolution and Dolby Vision support, making it well-suited for streaming, reading, and productivity tasks.
The tablet will be equipped with a 10,050mAh battery and supports 33W SuperVOOC charging. OnePlus claims it will provide up to 15 hours of video playback, 53 hours of music playback, and up to 60 days of standby time. Reverse charging is supported, and a 45W charger will be included in the box.
Stylus support is another confirmed upgrade, thanks to the introduction of the Pad Go 2 Stylo, which offers 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and fast charging. On the software side, OnePlus is adding new AI-powered features like AI Writer, AI Summary, AI Translation, and AI Recorder to enhance productivity. The company has also confirmed an 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant with 5G support, which will launch in Shadow Black.
OnePlus 15R and Pad Go 2: Expected Pricing in India
Official pricing is still under wraps. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. speculation suggests that the OnePlus 15R could be launched at approximately Rs 45,000. This positions it comfortably below the flagship OnePlus 15, which starts at Rs 72,999. As a point of reference, the Ace 6T starts at around Rs 33,000 in China.
Expectations for the OnePlus Pad Go 2 suggest a price point below Rs 25,000, though the official pricing will be revealed tomorrow.
