Before diving into today's puzzle, let's set the mood with some music. Justice, a French house duo, gained prominence with their remix of Simian's "We Are Your Friends" in 2006. Their debut album, Cross, released the following year, blends rock and disco influences. "D.A.N.C.E.," a tribute to Michael Jackson, was a successful single, but the entire album is worth a listen. Consider checking out "DVNO," a standout track from the album.

How to Play NYT Connections

Connections is a word game available on the New York Times website and Games app. Players are presented with 16 words that must be sorted into four groups of four, based on shared connections. The categories are not provided, adding to the challenge.

Only one correct solution exists, and incorrect guesses are limited to three. A fourth incorrect attempt ends the game.

The groups are color-coded by difficulty: yellow (easiest), blue, green, and purple (most challenging). Yellow and green groups often involve synonyms, blue groups may focus on cultural references, and purple groups frequently incorporate wordplay. That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. the game is known for its curveballs.

Like Wordle, Connections allows players to share their results using an emoji grid. The game also tracks player progress.

Many players aim for long win streaks or a "reverse rainbow" by solving the categories in purple, blue, green, and yellow order.

  • 🟪 Purple group: SEE

Connections Answers

**Spoiler alert! The answers are below!**

Today's Connections answers are:

  • 🟨 Yellow group: tournament rounds (FINAL, QUALIFIER, QUARTER, SEMI)
  • 🟩 Green group: enormous (BUMPER, GIANT, MONSTER, TITANIC)
  • 🟦 Blue group: disreputable establishment (DIVE, DUMP, HOLE, JOINT)
  • 🟪 Purple group: what "C" might mean (CELSIUS, COLD, ONE HUNDRED, SEE)

The words MONSTER, SEMI, and DUMP initially seemed related to trucks, but that turned out to be a red herring. SEMI then clicked with QUARTER, FINAL, and QUALIFIER, completing the yellow category.

After shuffling the board, BUMPER and MONSTER appeared next to each other, leading to the green category. From there, DIVE and DUMP made the blue category clear.

That left the purple category. CELSIUS brought to mind degrees and the letter C, which connected it to the other words in the group.

That wraps up today's Connections hints and answers. Check back for tomorrow's clues and solutions. Also, check out "UFO" by Sir Louie.
