Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy on Wednesday called for deepening India’s focus on research to drive long-term progress. “The need of the day for our country is to strengthen our national and institutional focus on research for a better India and for a better world,” Murthy said at the announcement of the Infosys Prize 2025 in Bengaluru. He described research as “humanity’s noblest collective enterprise” that demands courage, persistence and imagination. “Science and research are not luxuries, but necessities for human survival, dignity, and progress,” Murthy said.
