Nissan has announced the name of its upcoming MPV for India: Gravite. The launch is slated for early 2026, with dealership arrivals by March.
Nissan has officially named its new Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) for the Indian market: it will be called the Gravite. The Gravite is slated to become the third model in Nissan India’s current lineup, joining the Magnite and the X-Trail, as part of the company's revamped strategy for the country.
The Gravite name aligns with Nissan's established naming conventions, bearing a phonetic similarity to the Magnite compact SUV. The company anticipates the MPV will offer practical and accessible transportation for families when it arrives in showrooms, expected in early 2026. More specifically, Nissan projects the Gravite will be available at dealerships by March 2026.
Along with the naming announcement, Nissan released teaser images providing a sneak peek at the Gravite's exterior design. The front of the MPV showcases segmented horizontal LED daytime running lights (DRLs) integrated into the headlight clusters, creating a distinctive appearance. A horizontal chrome slat adorns the grille, and the hood prominently displays the Gravite name.
The rear of the Gravite features split tail-lamps visually connected by a horizontal insert spanning the tailgate. The Gravite badging is also present at the rear, echoing the front-end design. The overall design suggests a modern, upright MPV profile, clearly differentiated from Nissan's existing models.
Powering the Nissan Gravite will be a 1.0-liter petrol engine, the same one used in the Renault Triber. This engine will be available with both manual and AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) options. The Gravite is also expected to share its basic structure with the Triber.
