Nikitin Dheer defends Ranveer Singh's 'Dhurandhar' after it faced criticism for alleged political messaging, with director Aditya Dhar responding.
Ranveer Singh's film 'Dhurandhar' has continued its successful run at the box office, earning over Rs 350 crore since its release on December 5th. This success comes despite facing criticism regarding its supposed political messaging. While the film has received mixed reactions from audiences and critics alike, it has also garnered support from within the film industry.
Nikitin Dheer, son of the late Pankaj Dheer, has now voiced his support for 'Dhurandhar,' challenging the negative narratives that surrounded the film even before its release.
**'Declared a Flop Before Release'**
In an Instagram post featuring a video review of 'Dhurandhar,' Nikitin Dheer commended the film's technical aspects and underlying message. He specifically praised the cinematography, background music, and the performances of the cast. Dheer also acknowledged director Aditya Dhar's vision.
According to Nikitin, "'Dhurandhar' has resonated with audiences because, prior to its release, a peculiar narrative had already labeled it a flop. Those who promoted that narrative vanished once the film gained traction." He further suggested that films like 'Dhurandhar' serve a significant purpose and should be encouraged. "I believe more films of this nature should be produced – films that evoke pride and even anger. An examination of India's geopolitical history will reveal the accuracy and importance of this film. My hope is that it surpasses expectations, reaching Rs 500 crore to Rs 800 crore," he stated.
**'Bollywood is Alive and Thriving'**
Nikitin's Instagram caption addressed what he sees as misleading narratives surrounding the film's release and success. He wrote, "People often dislike what they cannot control. 'Dhurandhar' has overcome every obstacle, presented the truth through stunning visuals, debunked false narratives, and demonstrated that Bollywood is alive and flourishing." He added that the film's impact makes him proud to be a part of the industry.
Nikitin concluded his post by emphasizing the broader message he believes the film represents: "More power to filmmakers like these, and a sincere thank you to all the technicians and actors involved. May we perceive things as they truly are, may we avoid being misled by pseudo-intellectuals and their elaborate language, and may our love and dedication to our country remain strong. Our soldiers, who dedicate their lives to the nation, are the true heroes."
**Aditya Dhar Responds**
Director Aditya Dhar responded to Nikitin's supportive message, expressing his gratitude. "Such a well-articulated thought! Thank you so much, Nikitin sir. Lots of love!" he commented.
Besides Ranveer Singh, the cast of 'Dhurandhar' includes Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan in key roles.
