Australian Paralympic long jump bronze medalist Nicholas Hum has died at the age of 32. He represented Australia in multiple international competitions.
Nicholas Hum, the Australian Para-athlete who secured a bronze medal in long jump at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympic Games, has passed away at the age of 32.
Hum represented his country on numerous occasions, beginning with his international debut at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships. He participated in three Paralympic Games and five World Para Athletics Championships. His final appearance on the world stage was at the Paralympic Games in Paris last summer.
He also held the Australian record for the long jump T20 category, with a jump of 7.39m.
Australian Athletics released a statement saying that Hum, who died in Melbourne over the weekend, had “made a lasting impact on team-mates and competitors, coaches and staff alike.” The organization added that “Nick was a valued and respected member of Australia's athletics, high-performance and Paralympic communities.”
