New Resident Evil Requiem footage surfaces ahead of February launch

New Resident Evil Requiem footage shows Grace Ashcroft exploring a dark mansion stairwell and fighting a zombie in censored Japanese TV gameplay. The clip backs up earlier leaks about a horror‑heavy campaign without revealing any new plot details.

AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem has shared new Resident Evil Requiem gameplay footage from a Japanese TV special. Thanks to this 34-second clip (see below), we get our clearest look yet at protagonist Grace Ashcroft exploring a mansion‑style environment and fighting a zombie in what appears to be an early‑game encounter. The off‑screen clip shows Grace moving through a dim stairwell with a flashlight and handgun, before a suited zombie emerges on the landing and rushes her. The combat looks to be slower, more deliberate than in Resident Evil 4.
In follow‑up replies, @AestheticGamer1 clarified that the segment comes from Japan’s censored, non‑Z‑rated version of the game, which traditionally tones down headshots, dismemberment and blood effects for local broadcast. That context matters: blood splatter, gore and even some enemy reactions are expected to look more explicit in the global "Z‑rated" release, so the tame impact effects in this clip might not be necessarily representative of the final game on PC, PS5 and Xbox Seroes X|S.
The new clip fills the gap left by earlier Requiem leaks and Capcom’s own trailers, which frame Grace as one of several playable leads in a return to a Raccoon City‑style setting with a special focus on slow‑burn horror. Earlier reports also claimed that the campaign runs longer than Resident Evil Village and jumps between multiple protagonists, with Grace and her mother at the centre of the story and long‑time series regulars playing smaller, supporting roles that Capcom has been careful not to oversell in public comments. This info should still be taken with a grain of salt, since reports regarding Leon Kennedy's appearance in the game were dismissed by Masato Kumazawa.
What this clip adds is a somewhat better sense of atmosphere and camera work. Capcom is sticking with an over‑the‑shoulder perspective, heavy film‑grain presentation and narrow fields of view to keep players close to the action. Ambient lighting and the cramped staircase layout push Requiem closer to classic mansion‑horror than broader outdoor spaces in Resident Evil Village. While Capcom is still months away from launch, this kind of televised slice - and its censored framing - is a good template for how much of Requiem will be glimpsed ahead of release. The game officially comes out on February 27, 2026.
