Motorola seems to be preparing for its next major flagship, after launching the Edge 70 globally, the Lenovo-owned tech giant appears ready to revive its Ultra lineup, skipping the “Edge 60 Ultra” entirely and jumping straight to the Edge 70 Ultra. The fresh leak, courtesy of Android Headlines, reveals renders, specifications and early performance numbers, giving fans a decent idea of what Motorola might have in store.
The leaked images showcase the Edge 70 Ultra in two shades, olive and blue, both sporting a textured back panel. This texture shifts away from the soft eco-leather design seen on the Edge 50 Ultra and instead leans toward a more rugged, performance-driven look that matches many of the recent flagship launches. The rear camera module sits in the top-left corner with three lenses laid out vertically. Judging by Motorola’s past design choices, the setup is likely to include a main sensor, an ultrawide shooter and a periscope telephoto lens for improved zoom capabilities.
The front design hasn’t been leaked yet, but expectations point to a familiar flagship layout. Users can likely expect a centred hole-punch camera, slim bezels and a large flat OLED display somewhere around 6.7 to 6.8 inches, complete with a high refresh rate.
Under the hood, the Edge 70 Ultra is tipped to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. While not the top-tier 8 Elite Gen 5, it still promises flagship-level performance. According to performance numbers from the leak, the phone has scored 2,636 in single-core and 7,475 in multi-core tests on Geekbench, paired with 16GB RAM. The handset is said to come with Android 16 out of the box, running Motorola’s Hello UX interface.
There’s no official confirmation from Motorola yet, but leaks suggest the Edge 70 Ultra may launch towards the end of February 2025. The expected price in India could be around Rs 60,000, positioning it slightly higher than last year’s Edge 50 Ultra, which debuted at Rs 49,999. Given the rising prices across the flagship segment, a bump in pricing wouldn’t be surprising.
