Mario Bucaro steps down as Miss Universe CEO after only one month, following Jakapong 'Anne' Jakrajutatip's June resignation and issues at the 2025 pageant.
Mario Bucaro has resigned as CEO of the Miss Universe Organization after holding the position for just one month. He had taken over from Jakapong 'Anne' Jakrajutatip, who stepped down in June. Bucaro's departure follows the Miss Universe 2025 competition, held in Bangkok, Thailand, where Fatima Bosch of Mexico was crowned. The event faced considerable public criticism.
Raul Rocha Cantu, president of the Miss Universe Organization, acknowledged Bucaro's departure in a statement, referring to his brief tenure as “a period of institutional service.” The statement, posted on the MUO website, noted that Bucaro assumed the CEO role in November and “carried out key operational leadership responsibilities in the production of the 74th Miss Universe competition.”
The organization praised Bucaro's work in strengthening alliances, improving internal coordination, and establishing “effective channels of dialogue among cultures, sponsors, institutional partners, media outlets, and a global community.” He was also credited with contributions to “planning, logistics, and coordination with production teams.” The MUO statement highlighted the recent Bangkok competition as a major achievement during his time as CEO, noting its “broad international reach and visibility.” The search for new leadership is now underway.
