Mumbai Indians (MI) get ready for the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi. Find out their purse, available slots, auction time, and key player details.
The Mumbai Indians are gearing up for the IPL 2026 auction, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi. With their core team largely set, the franchise is focused on adding the final pieces needed to pursue a record sixth IPL title.
The auction begins at 2:30 PM IST on December 16th and will be held at the Etihad Centre in Abu Dhabi. A total of 350 players have been shortlisted from an initial pool of 1390 registered cricketers. This includes 240 Indian players and 110 overseas players. Of the shortlisted players, 112 are capped, while 238 are uncapped.
Currently, Mumbai Indians have 20 players on their roster. This means they have up to five slots to fill, including one spot for an international player. MI enters the auction with a remaining purse of INR 2.75 crores.
During the trade window, Mumbai Indians acquired Shardul Thakur, Sherfane Rutherford, and Mayank Markande. Arjun Tendulkar, a pacer, was traded to the Lucknow Super Giants.
The auction will begin with capped batters. After the first 70 players are auctioned, teams can submit names of unsold players for consideration in accelerated rounds. There will be no 'marquee players' initially set for bidding.
Unlike mega-auctions, the Right-To-Match (RTM) card will not be available for use by franchises in this mini-auction.
The IPL 2026 auction will be conducted by Mallika Sagar, who also managed the WPL 2026 mega auction.
The Mumbai Indians' strategy will likely involve identifying and securing promising young talents who can make a significant impact during the season.
