Akhil Vishwanath, known for his role in 'Chola,' has died by suicide, leaving the Malayalam film industry in mourning. The actor was found at his home.
The Malayalam film industry is mourning the death of Akhil Vishwanath, the young actor known for his role in the award-winning film *Chola*. Vishwanath died by suicide, according to reports, and was found at his home Thursday morning, *Kerala Kaumudi* reported. The news has left his family, friends, and neighbors grief-stricken.
Vishwanath was considered a promising talent. He gained recognition for his performance in *Chola*, directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, which won the 2019 Kerala State Film Award. The film was later selected for the Venice Film Festival; Vishwanath attended the festival alongside director Sasidharan and co-stars Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan.
Even earlier in his life, Vishwanath's talent was recognized. While in high school, he and his brother jointly won the State Award for Best Child Actor for their work in a telefilm.
In recent months, the actor had been dealing with difficult personal circumstances. Three months prior, his father, who worked as an autorickshaw driver, was seriously injured in a road accident and became bedridden. Vishwanath had to leave his job as a mobile shop technician in Kodaly to become his father's caregiver. His mother, Geetha, works as a collection agent, and his brother is a daily-wage worker.
Hundreds of friends, neighbors, and other members of the community attended the funeral, paying their respects to a young man whose life and talent were cut short.
