Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit shares a surprising revelation: her sons Arin and Ryan only began watching her films after they had already started college.
For a celebrated figure in Hindi cinema, Madhuri Dixit recently made an interesting disclosure: her sons, Arin and Ryan, only began exploring her extensive film work well after they had left for college. With her new web series, *Mrs Deshpande*, soon to be released, the actress recounted how her children's exposure to her movies came later in their lives.
"It's quite amusing, but my kids didn't actually see many of my films while growing up," Dixit told Hindustan Times. She further explained that it was largely due to their Indian friends that they eventually started watching her movies after beginning their college studies.
**Classmates Expressed Disbelief**
Dixit recounted some of the funny reactions from her sons' classmates, who were often astonished to learn that Arin and Ryan hadn't seen some of her most famous performances. "They would ask if they had watched a specific movie starring their mother, and the boys would say no. The classmates couldn't believe it!" she shared, laughing. She continued by saying it was only after they finished school that her sons revisited her older films, largely spurred on by their peers' continued insistence.
At a time when Madhuri Dixit is taking on more complex and morally ambiguous roles, her comments offer a glimpse into her personal life. In *Mrs Deshpande*, she embodies a serial killer – perhaps the most morally ambiguous role she has undertaken. Addressing comparisons to Shah Rukh Khan, who once expressed concern about portraying a tyrannical character in a way that might make him too sympathetic, Madhuri explained her approach. "My focus was on making her relatable," she noted. "On the outside, she's just a housewife. She enjoys cooking, especially making modaks. So, it's not overt villainy, but a quiet, internal darkness."
*Mrs Deshpande*, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and featuring Priyanshu Chatterjee and Siddharth Chandekar in significant supporting roles, represents Madhuri Dixit's continued exploration of psychologically rich characters. Her recent work reflects a notable departure from some of her earlier roles. The series is currently available for streaming on JioHotstar. Dixit recently celebrated her 26th wedding anniversary with Dr. Shriram Nene.
