Madhuri Dixit recalls her peaceful American life
When asked about her life in the US, the 'Ram Lakhan' actress lit up with warm memories. She described those years as a precious break from the fast-paced world she had always known. “Life there was amazing and peaceful. I had my kids, and I was spending every moment with them, basically living my dream. Looking after them, taking them to the park, playing with them and all those kinds of things,” she said. For Madhuri, this period became a dream-like chapter where she enjoyed motherhood to the fullest.
Parents’ wishes shaped major decisions
The decision to return to India was not sudden. Madhuri shared that it stemmed from several emotional reasons, especially related to her parents. “A lot of things happened. My parents were living with me; all my siblings are in the US. Even Ram’s family is there. My parents were getting older, and they wanted to come back to India. All my life and career, they were with me, and I didn’t want to leave them alone,” she explained.
Work travel became extremely exhausting
Another major factor behind her return was the increasing struggle of balancing work between two continents. “Secondly, my work was here. I used to come to India, do my work, and then go back to the US. That was becoming very difficult because of the distance,” she shared. Interestingly, Dr Sriram Nene also felt a growing desire for change. While practising medicine in the US, he noticed a worrying pattern in the patients he saw. “Ram also felt that most of the patients that come to him are in an extremely bad state. He wanted to catch their problems early on. So he wanted to develop a kind of system to make people healthy, to look after their wellness,” Madhuri said. For him, India offered the opportunity to build something new, something focused not only on treatment but also on early wellness and healthier lifestyles.
The family believed timing aligned naturally
With Madhuri’s work rooted in India, her parents wanting to return, her travel becoming tiring, and Dr Nene wanting a fresh start, everything pointed towards one big decision. “We both thought that maybe this is a calling, because everything was falling into place. I already had my work here, and he wanted a change as well, so we thought that moving to India would be a great move for the entire family,” she said. Coming back to India opened a new phase for the entire family. Madhuri returned to her creative world, took on fresh projects and reconnected with her audience. Dr Nene explored new ideas in health and wellness. Their children grew up closer to their roots, surrounded by culture, family, and the energy of Mumbai. Even though Madhuri loved her peaceful life in the US, moving back allowed her to balance motherhood, family responsibilities and her career in a way that felt natural and fulfilling.
