Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.2. The update includes new features and security patches, but some bugs persist. Get the details and how to update.
Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.2, which is now available for all Mac users. You can download it as a software update directly within macOS Tahoe.
The update includes a few new features, such as the ability to add alarms to Reminders and a ring light feature for FaceTime. It also addresses several bugs and provides important security patches.
That said, the reality is a bit more complicated. macOS Tahoe 26.2 does *not* fix the Reduce Transparency bug. This means the transparency effect may remain prominent even when disabled, a problem that has persisted since the Tahoe 26.1 release. Many users rely on this accessibility feature to improve legibility.
Some users are also reporting a new issue: local networking between Macs running Tahoe and Sequoia may no longer function correctly after installing the 26.2 update.
Alongside macOS Tahoe 26.2, Apple has also released iOS 26.2 for iPhones, iPadOS 26.2 for iPads, watchOS 26.2 for Apple Watches, and tvOS 26.2 for Apple TVs. For Macs not yet running Tahoe, macOS Sequoia 15.7.3 and macOS Sonoma 14.8.3 are also available.
To download and install the macOS Tahoe 26.2 update:
- First, back up your Mac using Time Machine or your preferred backup method.
- Then, click the Apple menu and go to "System Settings."
- Next, go to "General" and then "Software Update."
- Finally, click "Update Now" to begin the installation.
